“丰收答卷”源于榆林市对农业生产根基的系统性重塑与科技赋能。榆林市坚持“藏粮于地”，向“良田”要产能。面对旱地占比达76%的现状，榆林市将发展高效旱作节水农业作为破解“靠天吃饭”难题的根本举措。按照“用好天上水、保住地中墒、用足地表水、适度利用地下水”的思路，因地制宜分区推广智能水肥一体化、集雨补灌等六大模式，累计实施面积245万亩，实现亩均节水30%、节肥20%，让70多万亩纯旱地浇上了“救命水”。同时，以水定地、水地联动，建成高标准农田278万亩，亩均单产提高100公斤以上。此外，榆林市同步开展“美丽农田”创建行动，北部侧重于防风固沙，南部侧重于生态治理，走出了一条农业增产与生态保护协同并进的特色发展新路。
